SpaceXAI, in collaboration with Cursor, has launched Grok 4.5, a new large language model designed to set a new standard for developer-centric AI. The model, reportedly trained on 1.5 trillion parameters using Nvidia’s GB300 GPUs, is making bold claims of achieving performance comparable to frontier models like Fable 5, but at a significantly reduced cost. Initial reports from early access testers highlight Grok 4.5’s exceptional token efficiency and inference speed, averaging around 80 tokens per second, making it a compelling option for complex coding and agentic workflows.
Benchmarks from sources like Artificial Analysis position Grok 4.5 as a strong contender, placing it neck-and-neck with GPT-5.5 and just below Fable 5 in general intelligence and coding benchmarks like DeepSWE. It achieved a 54 on the Artificial Analysis Intelligence Index, securing fourth place. Notably, its cost-effectiveness is a standout feature, priced at $2 per million input tokens and $6 per million output tokens for up to 200k context, often 5 to 10 times cheaper than Fable 5. This efficiency is further underscored by its low token consumption in coding tasks, utilizing approximately 2 million tokens per task compared to Fable’s 7.2 million.
